Are you looking for the perfect form of relaxing hydrotherapy to add to your home? There are several different types of machines available to choose from. As you search for the machine that works best for you, you will encounter many different terms and questions. For instance, what’s the difference between a spa and a Jacuzzi® hot tub?
Goodall Pools & Spas can help you understand these terms in more detail. We are here to help the people of Central Pennsylvania with their aquatic recreational needs, from Camp Hill to Mechanicsburg and everywhere in between.
Defining the Differences
Both of these machines — a spa and a Jacuzzi hot tub— serve a similar purpose. They are designed to hold warm, welcoming water that soothes soakers anytime they need to get away from the busyness of life. From there, the differences begin.
Hot tub is the word used to describe any large tub that holds heated water. This term can include any large tubs, whether they have bubblers, massaging jets, or none at all. Some hot tubs are portable, which makes them very convenient if you move often. Hot tub is often interchanged with the word spa.
The term spa is a little more specific in its definition. It encompasses water treatment in all kinds of forms. Some spas are moveable, and others are installed in a more fixed manner. Because many hot tubs offer water therapy, the terms hot tub and spa are very close in meaning.
A Jacuzzi brand hot tub is a brand name of a jetted spa with its own trademark. The Jacuzzi brothers developed the idea for the original tub for hydrotherapy purposes in 1956. Designed as an underwater, portable pump for any ordinary tub, arthritis patients utilized it for pain relief. This invention opened the world of rejuvenating water therapy which has greatly advanced since then.
The Jacuzzi brand has seen tremendous improvements since its humble beginnings. They created a jetted whirlpool bath in the 1960s and then continued their innovative creations with a large jetted tub that could accommodate several people.
