Vinyl-liner pools are the most personalized pool projects we undertake at Goodall Pools & Spas. They allow for total customization in the pool’s size, shape, depth, liner color, and special features. As such, they generally require the most time to build, but the end result is well worth the wait, as hundreds of past Goodall clients can tell you.
A vinyl-liner pool, typically, takes between 6 and 8 weeks to build (note: construction times vary depending on the complexity of the project). Below is the general flow of construction processes to create this type of pool.
Excavating involves digging a large hole in the ground, leveling the bottom, and preparing it to receive the pool structure before installation.
After excavation we install the steel framework. This includes bolting individual panels together and leveling the entire framework.
The pool’s plumbing systems are installed along with any interior lighting elements.
Installing braces in an inground pool means reinforcing the walls of the pool with metal supports to ensure they stay in place during the backfilling process. In this process, we also create a solid foundation for the pool deck.
This is when we pour concrete around the base of your pool to bind the steel section together. At this time, we also pour concrete for the equipment pad.
Setting the equipment involves placing the essential pool equipment on the equipment pad including the pool pump and filter.
Backfill refers to filling up the outside of the pool walls or hardscape walls with soil or gravel after it has been installed in the excavated hole. Completing a rough grade of a pool installation involves smoothing and leveling the soil around the pool area (no grass replanted).
Here, we apply a layer of stone to act as a foundation for the pool deck and the patio areas.
Forming, rebar, or bonding concrete in a pool deck or patio installation refers to the process of preparing and reinforcing the concrete base before pouring and smoothing it out.
We pour the concrete into the pool deck and patio areas. This portion of the project is weather-dependent. Optimal temperatures and ground conditions are necessary to ensure the best product.
This step involves placing a layer of sand or other material on the excavated ground to create a smooth surface for the vinyl liner.
The vinyl liner is laid and secured across the pool structure. When the liner is in place, water goes into the pool.
Electrical wiring and bonding are completed, ensuring that the electrical operates as it should and that all the pool equipment is functional.
A fence is erected according to Pennsylvania Zoning guidelines for inground pools.
The surrounding backyard is adorned with landscaping elements to complement the pool environment.
Goodall staff conduct an onsite training lesson with the pool owner after water is in the pool. Here, we teach you how to operate and maintain your pool and its equipment.
About 30 days after the concrete is poured, we can apply a Sundek overlay which adds stylish colors and textures to the concrete surface.

Knowledgeable, friendly staff and technicians who deliver amazing customer service. As a new home and pool owner, I was overwhelmed when I took the cover off for the first time this season and found a pool that literally looked like a swamp. Bob Goodall and his army of pool experts took my pool from a murky green nightmare to crystal clear, beautiful water in no time. I can’t thank them enough!
Always responsive and professional. Helped us renovate a 20-year old pool and taught us the ropes on what to keep my eye on with our various pool components through their excellent Gold Member service. They keep the pool clean and sparkling blue. We’ve enjoyed interacting with every person we’ve met there from the owners onwards. Truly a unique and solidly family owned business that we need more of. Thank you!
Designed and installed a resort-feel beautiful pool with lots of features. We absolutely love it. The store employees are wonderful about testing our pool water (no matter how many times I take samples in) and explaining the computer printout that tells me exactly how much of each chemical my pool needs. I highly recommend Goodall Pools!
Since we are new to the hot tub experience, we had a lot of questions and concerns. Adam at Goodall Pools/Spas was most professional and extremely patient making sure we understood the process of maintaining our hot tub. He printed out and walked us through all the instructions we required to keep our hot tub sparkling clean.
