Family game night is an event that many people regularly anticipate. This event though, looks different for every family. Some enjoy board games or card games every week. Others spend their time beating each other at video games of some kind. Maybe you’re looking for some fresh ideas for game night routines at your house. Here’s a fun idea: Move family game night to the hot tub! Why not enjoy your weekly games in your favorite place to relax together? Backyard bliss begins with a spa—the perfect place to gather with your family.
Safety First
First things first: Can kids use a hot tub? Maybe you are unsure about the safety of spending time with your children in a warm hot tub. Goodall Pools & Spas is a family-run business, and we understand your concern for the ones you love. Time in the hot tub with your family is definitely a safe undertaking. Our informative blog talks about what precautions to take for these special occasions.
Next Up – Splashing Fun
Next, concentrate on the games you want to play for family game night in the hot tub. Splashing is always associated with a swimming pool, but a spa can be just as fun. There are many games you can try out in your hot tub. Here are a couple of ideas to get you started.
Hilarious Hockey
Are there any hockey fans at your house? One fun game that will include plenty of splashing is hot tub hockey. All you need is a rubber duckie or a similar toy that floats. The goal of the game is to get the “puck” to touch the edge of the tub on the opponent’s side. But there’s a catch—you cannot touch the puck with any part of your body.
You can blow the duckie or make waves to move it across the hot tub. Splashing is sure to be included as creative team members work to get the three points they need to win. Divide your hockey players into two teams, and let the fun begin.
PG Pass the Bottle
Another fun game for when you move family game night to the hot tub is pass the bottle—family style, that is. The object of this game is to pass a hard, plastic bottle of water around the hot tub … with no hands.
You also must receive the bottle using a different body part than the passer is using. If they are bumping the bottle to you with their knee, you can then move it with your armpit to the next receiver, and so on. You can choose a fun penalty for anyone who drops the bottle before allowing them to enter another round.
Classic Card Games
One more idea is to get waterproof cards to use in the hot tub. You can easily use a large frisbee or something similar as a floating table. Then you can play your favorite card games while you get some hydrotherapy and enjoy the new traditions you are making.
