Are you considering adding an inground pool to your backyard? It’s an exciting prospect for sure. However, one question that often comes up is, “How long does it take to get an inground pool?” The answer varies depending on a number of factors, including the type of pool you choose.
At Goodall Pools & Spas, we design and install three types of inground pools: vinyl-lined pools, fiberglass pools, and Biodesign Beach Pools. Let’s discuss how long it can take in 2023 to see each of these pool types make their homes in your backyard.
Inground Pool Design and Installation Timelines
It’s important to keep in mind that the timeline for getting an inground pool can vary depending on a variety of factors beyond the type of pool you choose.
First and foremost, the availability of pool-building personnel will drive the timing of your pool project. Pool builders will have a queue of projects scheduled for the season and, often, have a waiting list established. This being the case, it’s best to first inquire about a custom pool project several months or even a year in advance.
When you work with Goodall, our staff works with you through every step of the process, from the design through installation. We help you factor in the time it takes for all the preliminary procedures, including site visits, permitting, material procurement and staging, etc.
When the time comes to finally install your pool, the schedule depends on the type of pool you choose. Keep in mind that weather conditions play a role in the timeline. Also, if you include other backyard design elements in the project, that can extend the time required for completion.
Vinyl-Lined Inground Pool
If you’re considering a vinyl-lined pool, the timeline can vary depending on a few factors. On average, construction for one of our vinyl-liner pools is between six and eight weeks. This includes the time it takes to install the pool and fill it with water. Installation time will also depend on the complexity of the project. If your pool design includes a lot of specialized features, the project will take more time to complete.
Fiberglass Inground Pool
A fiberglass pool can be a great option for those who want a quicker installation process. We can install a fiberglass pool and fill it with water typically within three to four weeks.
The reason for the quick installation is that the pool shell is pre-fabricated off-site and then transported to your home for installation. This means that the excavation and installation process is much faster than with other types of pools.
Inground Beach Pools by Biodesign
Beach Pools by Biodesign are the newest addition to our inground pool offerings at Goodall. These pools are custom-designed to look like a natural body of water, complete with a beach entry and sand-like texture.
The installation process for a Biodesign Beach Pool involves multiple steps, including excavation, installation of the framework, applying the liner materials, and incorporating the special features that make these pools true showstoppers. The entire process can take anywhere from four to five weeks, depending on the size and complexity of your project.
