A swim spa offers the opportunity to have year-round aquatic entertainment as well as exercise. An underwater gym is a dream come true. For close to 60 years, Goodall Pools & Spas has been operating in Pennsylvania. We love to help families find the perfect backyard leisure and recreational activities. A swim spa is an amazing choice for at-home entertainment because of its versatility. Here are 4 exercises to do in your swim spa to liven things up for your workout routines.
Exercises to Try
Low-impact exercise is gentler on your joints, and the resistance stream necessitates some extra exertion for burning calories as you work out. There is ample space in a swim spa to do a variety of exercises. The water often gives a wider range of motion as well because it lightens your weight considerably. Here are just a few exercises to get you started.
Underwater Warm-Up
First, walking or jogging underwater for a few minutes is a great way to start out for a warm-up. As you move, bring your knees up as high as you can and continuously breathe deeply in and out. Walking or jogging against the current at a low speed is an extra challenge to try. One more twist to try is to jog backward in the water. This can give additional muscles some attention.
Unique Hopping
Next, you can try a fun hop in the swirling water. Keeping your feet together, hop from side to side as quickly as possible. Try to bend your knees as much as you can between jumps for effective exertion. Hop for a minute or until you get tired, and be sure not to overdo it.
Useful Bicep Curls
Weight lifting in the water can seem like a breeze. Grab your water dumbbells, holding them with your palms up. While bending your arms at the elbow, draw the weights toward your shoulders. This motion will give your biceps a challenge for the day. Slowly return the weights to their starting position, and repeat this motion 10 times or so. Take a break, and do another set of 10 before you move on to the next activity.
Upper Body Chest Press
While you have the dumbbells out, try some chest presses to strengthen your upper body. Keep your chest submerged, and hold the dumbbells against you with your palms facing the floor. Then vigorously straighten your arms completely while squeezing your chest together. From that position, slowly return your arms to their original position and repeat the chest press a few more times.
Equipment to Have
Of course, you need to have an amazing swim spa to utilize for these exercises. The Hydropool® swim spas that we carry are built in Canada and used across the world because of their innovative technology.
In addition to the swim spa and dumbbells, rowing kits, gloves, resistance bands, and exercise bars are some popular choices to have on hand for various exercises. Our friendly staff can help you find the must-have accessories that you need for these four exercises to do in your swim spa (and any more you decide to try out).
